  • Personalization: There's a growing demand for products that reflect individual identities.

Industries That Benefit from Custom Merchandise

Various sectors can leverage custom merchandise, including:

  • Entertainment: Artists and influencers can monetize their brand through merchandise.

  • Corporate: Companies use custom items for branding and promotional purposes.

  • Non-Profit: Organizations sell merchandise to raise funds and awareness.

How to Design Your Custom Merchandise

Creating compelling designs is pivotal. Here's how to start:

Ideation & Conceptualizing Your Design

Begin by brainstorming ideas that align with your brand's message. Consider your target audience's preferences and current market trends.

Choosing the Right Merchandise

Select products that best represent your brand. At Slick Designs and Apparel, we offer a wide range of customizable items to suit diverse needs.

Creating Your Design

Utilize design tools or collaborate with professional designers to bring your vision to life. Ensure the design is versatile and adaptable to various products.

For example with "Come Up Ink" different elements of the design can be moved and changed without messing with the core appeal and message. Making sure you can wear hats, shorts, and hoodies and even with different designs you can tell its for the same brand.

Once your design is finalized, the production phase begins.

Finding the Right Manufacturer

Partnering with a reliable manufacturer ensures quality. Slick Designs and Apparel provides end-to-end services, handling both design and production to maintain consistency.

We will always do right by our customers, that means owning to our mistakes when they happen. And ensuring reliable quality and delivery with any changes or problems being clearly and quickly communicated to you.

See what our customers say about us.

Quality Control and Product Testing

Implement stringent quality checks to ensure your merchandise meets the desired standards. This step is crucial for your satisfaction and your customers' satisfaction. Nothing is worse than delivery a subpar shirt to someone with prints that peel off or wash off within days. What would someone think about that and about us?

Packaging and Branding Your Merchandise

Thoughtful packaging enhances the unboxing experience. Incorporate branding elements to reinforce your brand identity.

Branded packaging can be a extra cost but is mainly used when selling directly to other people. For business purposes, we have seen that it is mostly not required since merchandise and apparel is delivered in bulk.

Don't Believe Us? Here you have from Alex Hormozi from his Mozi Minute Emails.

Mozi Minute: Triple Review Merch Hack

Most businesses beg for reviews or hope customers leave them naturally. Here's what actually worked for me when launching new locations: exclusive merch in exchange for triple-platform reviews.

Here's exactly what I did:

I ordered t-shirts for $5-6 each (get the nice ones). I put a cool design on it and put my logo on the back or sleeve. I asked people who wanted one for free in my online community. A ton of people did. Then I told them they were not for sale and ONLY available for people who left us an honest review on all 3 platforms (Google, Yelp, and Facebook).

The math was simple:

Cost: $5 per shirt

Return: 3 genuine reviews ($1.67 per review)

Extra benefit: Walking billboards

Key execution points:

  1. Make the shirts actually look good & good quality (people won't wear ugly freebies)
  2. Show them exactly how to leave reviews (screenshot instructions)
  3. Don’t ask for 5-star reviews. Ask for honest reviews. Less cringe. (They’ll still all be good).
  4. Have them show you the reviews to get the shirt
  5. Give the shirt immediately - no delays
  6. BONUS - ask them if they want you to take a picture with it on or at the facility and post it.

*We just so happen to make apparel that looks good and feels better.*

Most Common Methods of Manufacturing, CMT vs. FPP

Understanding production methods is essential.

  • Cut, Make, Trim (CMT): In this method, you provide the designs and materials, and the manufacturer assembles the product. It's ideal for those who want control over materials but requires more involvement.

  • Full Package Production (FPP): Here, the manufacturer handles everything from sourcing materials to production. It's convenient but may offer less control over material selection.

A Comprehensive Guide to Custom Apparel Printing

Choosing the right printing method impacts the quality and cost of your merchandise.

  • Screen Printing: Suitable for bulk orders with simple designs. It offers durability and vibrant colors.

  • Direct-to-Garment (DTG) Printing: Ideal for intricate designs and smaller batches. It allows for high-detail prints.

  • Heat Transfer: Uses heat to transfer designs onto fabric. It's versatile but may not be as durable as other methods.

  • Sublimation Printing: Best for all-over prints on polyester fabrics. It produces vibrant, long-lasting colors.

At Slick Designs and Apparel, we utilize these methods to cater to diverse needs, ensuring your custom merchandise stands out.

Embarking on the journey of creating, selling, and promoting custom merchandise requires careful planning and execution. By understanding each aspect, you can effectively bring your unique products to market and connect with your audience.
